Ryan Gander is an artist based in London. Having previously completed a research residency at the Jan van Eyck Akademie in Maastricht, Gander participated in the artists’ residency program of the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam. After a research sabbatical in 2007, Gander exhibited new work for his solo show Heralded as the new black which opened at Ikon Gallery, Birmingham in January 2008 and travelled to South London Gallery and Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam. 2008 also saw solo exhibitions at Kunst Halle St. Gallen, CH; Bonner Kunstverein, Bonn; Store Gallery, London; Annet Gelink, Amsterdam; Tanya Bonakdar Gallery, New York in addition to participation in the Carnegie International, Pittsburgh and the Sydney Biennial. This year Gander will present a solo exhibition at Villa Arson, Nice and at Kadist and gb Agency, Paris.
